Dear [Name],

I [or whatever pronoun is applicable] am so sorry to hear about your [tragic] loss. [Name of deceased] was an incredible [person/man/woman] and I’ll never forget the time [something happened]. I’m sure such events will be missed by all who knew [her/him].

Please know that you and your family [specific names instead, depending on relationship] are in my thoughts [and prayers] at this sad time. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask. I am here for you no matter what you need, even if it’s just someone to talk to.

With [Sympathy, Hugs, Love],
[Your Name]
