Girl Scout Cookies Wine Pairings For Adults

Girl Scout Cookies Wine Pairings For Adults

Girl Scout cookies season is upon us, and no one has knocked on my door to sell me Caramel deLites®, Tagalongs®, or Thin Mints®. How can this be? In years past, I bought at my office from my co-workers doing their daughters’ bidding, from my friends’ children, and even from the adorable scouts who used to set up in front of the local supermarket or hardware store.

Disappearing Cookie Trick

It should, but it never seems to surprise me how fast those cookies disappear. I can easily devour a box of Caramel deLites® (or Samoas® as we called them back when I was a Girl Scout) on my own almost in as much time as it will take me to complete this blog. Well, maybe a little longer but still way too fast! What`s worse? According to the Girl Scouts website, a serving of any of their dozen or so varieties is trans-fat free. Thanks, Girl Scouts, I really didn`t need another reason to love these sweet temptations any more than I already do!

Girl Scout Cookies Wine Pairings For Adults

Looking for an even better excuse to buy Girl Scout cookies? We`ve consulted with our in-house wine connoisseur to determine which wines pair best with Girl Scout cookie flavors. Legal age adults, you`re welcome!

Caramel Chocolate Chip

Gluten-free caramel chocolate chip cookies. Pair these sweet and salty cookies with a Dark & Tan beer. For those not in the know, a Dark & Tan beer is a pale ale like Sierra Nevada or Boulevard with Guinness Stout poured on top. When poured correctly this visually creates a dark layer on top and a tan layer on the bottom of the glass.

Caramel deLites® | Samoas®

Vanilla cookies coated in caramel sprinkled with toasted coconut and laced with chocolatey stripes. Best paired with a fruity red wine such as Beaujolais Nouveau, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Zinfandel.

Do-si-dos® | Peanut Butter Sandwich

Peanut butter filling sandwiched between crunchy oatmeal cookies. Mmmmmm, pair these with a Pinot Noir!

Girl Scout S`mores®

Graham sandwich cookies with a yummy chocolate and marshmallow filling. We`re throwing a curve ball at you with this couple. Pair these decadent treats with a Dark & Tan beer.

Peanut Butter Patties® | Tagalongs®

Crispy vanilla cookies layered with Peter Pan peanut butter and covered with a chocolatey coating. No surprises here, pair them with Pinot Noir.

Lemonades®

Shortbread cookie with lemon icing. A Rosé paired with these lemony cookies is extra scrumptious!

Lemon-Ups®

Baked with inspiring messages, these crispy lemon cookies also pair well with a Rosé (Champagne blended with red wine).

Shortbread | Trefoils®

A traditional shortbread cookie made in the shape of the Girl Scout trefoil. No matter what you call it; Sparkling Wine, Champagne, or Prosecco, these bubbly wines takes these overlapping tri-circle cookies to a whole new flavor level!

Thin Mints®

Narrow, mint-flavored chocolate wafers dipped in a chocolatey coating. Pair them with a dry red wine. Some possibilities are Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel but there are many more!

Toffee-tastic®

Gluten-free butter cookies with toffee bits. Pair-up these sweet cookies with the world`s most recognized red wine grape varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon.

Once a Girl Scout, Always A Girl Scout

Earning badges and fun patches, attending Girl Scout camp, marching in local parades, leveling up (Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes...), and selling cookies to friends and family are just some of the amazing memories I have from my days as a Girl Scout. I also remember how conflicted I was about quitting Girl Scouts as I grew up and my interests changed.
These many years later, I don’t have to Google it to remember the wise words of the song we sang at the end of each meeting:

Make new friends, but keep the old,

One is silver, and the other is gold.
