Methodology
Source
- Search data was obtained from Google Keyword Planner.
Data Preparation
- To avoid over-representing apple searches that might be driven by popular consumer brands (such as Apple Inc.), we combined search data for red apples and green apples into a single “apples” category. By focusing specifically on these common fruit-related phrases, we ensure our analysis accurately reflects interest in apples as a fruit—minimizing distortions from unrelated searches for tech products or other non-fruit meanings. This method helps provide a truer picture of actual consumer search behavior around apples as a food, rather than as a brand.
- To ensure that no other fruit was over-represented in our results, we validated rankings using a weighting system that incorporated multiple relevant keywords—such as “buy [fruit]” and “[fruit] in season”—to accurately capture true consumer search intent across different contexts.
- Standardized column names and cleaned data values for consistency.
