For Mom’s who prefer to stay at home with family on their special day, it’s a good time to turn the TV into a home theater and watch movies that say Moms are very special people. A DVD recording, some fresh popped corn, and maybe a box of tissues (for some of these films) can make this Mother’s Day one she will talk about for years to come. Here are our Top 5 picks in no special order:
The Blind Side starring Academy Award winning Sandra Bullock is a heartwarming tale of a mother whose love of family extends to providing one for a young man who has never had one before.
The Sound of Music shows how Maria Von Trapp became the mother to the children of the Baron Von Trapp in pre-war Austria. In addition to the real life tale of how Maria (played by Julie Andrews) became a part of the family, this movie is filled with great music and incredible scenery.
Please Don’t Eat the Daisies, based on humorist Erma Bombeck’s hilarious book, stars Doris Day as a mother with her hands full as the family moves to the suburbs.
Swiss Family Robinson has Dorothy McGuire as a mother of great courage raising her children on a deserted island after a shipwreck.
Rounding out our Top 5 picks are any of the Ma and Pa Kettle movies starring the irascible Margery Main. A good choice if Mom is always up for a good laugh.
