5 Things You Should Try On the Grill

There are few foods more closely tied to summer than juicy grilled burgers. And as much as they are perfect on many an August day, burgers aren’t the only delicious thing you can whip up on the barbie. To spice up your summer food repertoire, check out these 5 things you should be putting on the grill:

Grilled Tofu

1. Pizza
Say so-long to store bought pizza. Use either pizza dough or naan bread and place it on the grill. Once marks appear, take it off and add your favorite toppings on the grilled side. Place the pizza back onto the grill for a few minutes until the cheese is melted to your liking.

2. Quesadillas and Tacos
Your grill is your best amigo. Transferring favorite Mexican dishes, like spicy quesadillas or zesty tacos, to the grill doesn’t require many changes (though for tacos, a special rack is helpful). Just be sure to brush tortillas with olive oil to prevent them from sticking.

3. Oysters and Clams
What’s better than fresh shellfish? Grilled fresh shellfish. Oysters and clams are delicious on the grill and, unlike some other methods, ready in just a few minutes. (Take a look at this delicious recipe for grilled oysters with pancetta and basil.)

4. Tofu
Maybe you think that tofu isn’t for you because you’re a red-meat-eating kind of person. But just because tofu is regarded as a vegetarian food doesn’t mean you won’t find it delicious. There are a handful of recipes (like this one) that make tofu steaks so delicious, it’ll win the hearts of even the most devoted carnivores.

5. Grilled Salad
Fact: salad can get boring. But an easy (and unexpected) way to fall back in love with crisp romaine is by putting it on the grill! Take a look at this recipe for an updated version of Caesar salad.
