The mob at the entry to the theatre howled and cheered. I, too far back in the line to immediately see what prompted the eruption, stood all the way up on tip toes, high enough to see the top of Sharon Osborne’s head as she entered the building. I love Sharon, who along with Howie Mandel and Piers Morgan are the judges on “America’s Got Talent.” I was in NYC with a group of women from the Huntington Breast Cancer Coalition which, like other charities whose members filled the seats of the theatre, would be the beneficiaries of donations the show was making based on how many seats a charity filled.

How Not to Buy or Lease a Car

I leased a new car today, and while I am not suffering buyer’s (well, lessee’s) remorse, I am not exactly experiencing new car joy - yet. Quite the opposite, I have that “caving-in stomach” feeling, the kind people get before speaking in public or going for a critical job interview.

Girl Scout week is upon us, and no one has even knocked on my door to sell me Samoas or Tagalongs or Thin Mints. How can this be? In years past I bought at my office from moms and dads doing their daughters’ bidding, from my friends’ children and even from the adorable scouts who used to set up in front of the local supermarket.

Super Fan. Go Rachel, Go Rachel!

When it comes to professional sports, I am through and through a fair-weather fan. Show me a NY team that’s in the playoffs, though, and I will watch with the same passion as I would if my own kid were pitching or playing center or quarterback. Regular season? I don’t have a clue what’s going on and insufficient interest to check it out.
